Newfoundland Labrador peoples and culture are shaped by a combination of geographical, economic, and historical factors.
Its isolated location on the eastern edge of North America, surrounded by water, from which the first European settlers mostly
of British and Irish roots began to develop a fishing influenced culture that is unique in our modern world. The sheer rugginess
of the rocks and cliffs, the rolling hills, the color strewn meadows and marshes, the ancient hills and mountains of the west
coast, the calm rolling of the sea at sunset, the thundering roar of the ocean as the fog rolls in with the nor east wind.
How did the humble enclaves of warmth, color, love and hard work ever hold up on their stilts hugging the cliffs while been
battered by the elements?
In 1991 Ted and Susan Palmer was driven by a deep rooted desire to come home after 15 years in Alberta and Ontairo. Of
all places why go back to Newfoundland Labrador? It was this desire and allure of the unusual natural beauty. It was the
desire to raise their five girls in the land of their roots having first hand knowledge of their family especially their
Grandparents. It is the naturally friendly nature of the people. It is truly home! They were interested in starting our their
business in Newfoundland Labrador and finally reached that goal in 2003 when they purchased Saltwater Images Inc. Taking
their business to the web in 2006 have made the process even more exciting.
